The ranger started life innocently enough, but as soon as the warranty ran out,
it had been lifted, bent, and bruised. This truck has 5 1/2 inches of lift to
clear 33 inch mudders. The original lift was made by Superlift, but it has
slowly destroyed itself and been replaced with custom fabricated parts. The
front and rear springs were built by National, and Rock Ware built the radius
arms after breaking 3 Super Runner radius arms. The new radius arms are
modified factory pieces that were lengthend and re-drilled to help keep
castor within specifications. The axles have 4.56's and a tired Trash-Lock
in the rear and a Lock-Rite in the front.
The truck has held up suprisingly well for the abuse it has been put through
except for those cheesy front hubs that fail on a regular basis. In the
future we're going to drop in either an Auto Fab custom IFS front end or
a live axle in up front so stay tuned to see how it goes. The stock IFS
system does not work was well as we'd like for hard core wheeling.
I'm also in contact with Foutz Motor Sports about putting a C-4 auto behind the
4.0 liter. This will allow the installation of an Atlas Transfer Case.
